Château Figeac is one of the historic estates of Saint-Émilion and was recently elevated to the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” classification. Known for its distinctive blend with a higher proportion of Cabernet varieties, Figeac stands apart on the Right Bank with a style that combines the elegance of Saint-Émilion with the structure of the Médoc. The 2021 vintage reflects this identity beautifully, offering freshness, aromatic precision, and refined structure that will reward careful aging.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour with brilliant reflections. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry, and plum, layered with floral notes of violet and subtle hints of cedar and graphite. On the palate, the wine is elegant and finely structured, with silky tannins and lively acidity. Flavours of cassis, raspberry, and dark berries unfold gradually, leading to a long and balanced finish with gentle spice and mineral notes.

Food Pairing
A wonderful partner for roast lamb, grilled beef, or duck breast. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom dishes, truffle based recipes, and aged cheeses. Decanting will help the wine open and reveal its full complexity and aromatic depth.

Vintage Report 2021
The 2021 vintage in Saint-Émilion produced wines that emphasize freshness, elegance, and classical balance. The growing season brought challenges, including spring frost and a relatively cool summer, but a favorable September allowed the grapes to ripen steadily. Merlot, the dominant grape in Saint Émilion, performed well on the region’s limestone and clay soils. The wines typically show vibrant red and dark fruit, floral aromatics, and refined tannins, supported by bright acidity. Overall, 2021 Saint Émilion wines are graceful and well balanced, with purity of fruit and polished structure. They are approachable earlier than the richer recent vintages, yet still capable of developing beautifully with time in the cellar.
