Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most prestigious estates in Saint-Émilion, holding the rare Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” classification. The 2021 vintage reflects the estate’s signature elegance and precision, with Cabernet Franc playing a leading role in the blend. Crafted from carefully selected parcels on the estate’s gravel and clay soils, this wine shows finesse, freshness, and remarkable balance that will reward patient cellaring.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with violet reflections. The nose opens with layers of red and dark fruits such as raspberry, cherry, and blackberry, accompanied by floral notes of violet and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is refined and structured, with polished tannins and vibrant freshness. Flavours of cassis, plum, and dark cherry unfold alongside hints of graphite and spice, leading to a long and elegant finish.

Food Pairing
An excellent companion for classic meat dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, or game. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom dishes, truffle based recipes, and aged cheeses. For the best experience, decant the wine and allow it to open slowly in the glass.

Vintage Report 2021
The 2021 vintage in Saint-Émilion produced wines that emphasize freshness, elegance, and classical balance. The growing season brought challenges, including spring frost and a relatively cool summer, but a favorable September allowed the grapes to ripen steadily. Merlot, the dominant grape in Saint Émilion, performed well on the region’s limestone and clay soils. The wines typically show vibrant red and dark fruit, floral aromatics, and refined tannins, supported by bright acidity. Overall, 2021 Saint Émilion wines are graceful and well balanced, with purity of fruit and polished structure. They are approachable earlier than the richer recent vintages, yet still capable of developing beautifully with time in the cellar.
