Grape variety

The grapes that were used for this wine were sourced from multiple vineyard sites throughout the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. By using multiple vineyard parcels they are able to produce a complex and complete wine with great fruit character and depth of flavour. Medium maceration on the skin to obtain optimal aromas in scent and flavour. Aged for 9 months in French barriques.

Tasting notes
Medium red with garnet and ruby hues. On the bouquet more darkly fruited than normal for us with plenty of black cherry and plum along with hints of dried herbs. An approachable, elegant wine with soft tannin, delicious bright red fruit flavours and great length of flavour.

Food pairing
It is light enough for salmon or chicken, but complex enough to complement richer red or game meats. Try it alongside game birds such as quail, turkey, and duck; with a fillet of New Zealand salmon; or equally with pork, veal, lamb or venison.
