Chateau La Nerthe, among Chateauneuf du Pape's oldest and largest estates, covers 90 hectares around the castle. Established in the XIVth century, its rich history saw Commander Joseph Ducos pivotal after the phylloxera crisis. In 1936, Baron Leroy de Boiseaumarie formalisedthe first French 'Appellation d'Origine Controlee' in Chateauneuf du Pape.

The grapes undergo meticulous handpicking and sorting, followed by 18 to 21 days of vat fermentation and subsequent malolactic fermentation in oak. After 12 months of ageing in casks and barrels, blending precedes bottling six months later. An outstanding wine with excellent ageing potential.

Tasting notes
The dark, deep, inky color of the wine shows the concentration of the vintage. Nose of blackcurrants, black tea, dried flowers os definately standing out. The mouth is rich, fruity, velvety, with an incredibly layered tannin structure. The wine is balanced, pure, really intense and long, an incredible ageing potential.

Food pairing
Pair with succulent duck fillet, hearty beef stew, or flavourful game dishes accompanied by a rich 'grand veneur' sauce.
