Marquis de Ségur is the former owner of Lafite and Latour and Château Calon Ségur. Marquis de Calon Ségur is the second label of Château Calon Ségur. The latter is a 3rd Grand Cru Classé. Approx. 40% of the production goes to the 1st label and 50% to the second label. Unlike the first label, in Marquis de Ségur the merlot predominates, making the wine softer and more accessible. The more than 20 years old vines are planted on a soil with a thick layer of pebbles, located between two clay dominated layers. 50% of the wine is aged for 17 months in new oak, and the other 50% in one year old oak.

Tasting note 
The style of the 2nd wine is completely different from the first label. This wine is characterized by a silky structure with juicy and ripe notes of berry and cherry fruit. A spicy edge for a good balance. The balance is its strength and nicely integrated tannins give body to the rich fruit.

Food pairing
Fits in a traditional red meat kitchen, but also goes well with dishes with more earthy notes such as mushrooms, and spicy cheeses.
