Abadia Retuerta Seleccion Especial is the signature wine of one of Spain’s most respected estates. The winery is located in Castilla y Leon, close to the famous Ribera del Duero region, and holds its own protected designation Abadia Retuerta DOP. This rare status recognises the unique terroir of the estate and allows the winery full control over every step of production.

The vineyards surround a historic 12th century abbey and benefit from exceptional soils and climate conditions that produce wines with impressive balance and depth. Seleccion Especial is a carefully crafted blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Graciano and Petit Verdot. The wine is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, adding structure, complexity and subtle spice.

Tasting notes
In the glass the wine shows a deep ruby red colour. The nose is expressive and inviting, revealing aromas of ripe red and dark fruits such as currant, raspberry and cherry, layered with subtle hints of spice and oak. On the palate the wine is smooth and balanced with fine ripe tannins that provide structure while keeping the wine elegant and approachable. The finish is long and harmonious.

Food pairing
This versatile red pairs beautifully with grilled meats such as steak or lamb chops. It also works very well with slow cooked dishes, hearty stews and roasted meats. For cheese lovers, it is an excellent match with aged Spanish cheeses such as Manchego Curado or other firm and flavourful cheeses.
