Château Gazin, located on the northeastern Pomerol plateau between Petrus and Lafleur-Gazin, has a vineyard characterised by gravel with a blue and green clay subsoil containing iron oxides. The Bailliencourt dit Courcol family, descendants of the high lords of Landas in northern France, own the property. Using environmentally friendly practices, the vineyard employs traditional and modern methods, with manual harvesting, vinification in small concrete tanks, and up to 18 months of oak barrel aging. Their second wine, L’hospitalet de Gazin, has been produced since 1986 from younger vines, offering an elegant, supple, and charming wine that can be enjoyed relatively early.
Tasting notes Indulge in this full-bodied wine, brimming with deep, vivid flavours reminiscent of mulberry, plum, blackberry, and blackcurrant. Complemented by well-balanced tannins, acidity, and subtle stem-like notes, it offers an engaging and complex tasting experience.
