Crafted from one of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in the world, Langmeil The Freedom 1843 is a true icon of Australian winemaking. The vines were planted in 1843 in Barossa Valley, making them over 180 years old — a living testament to the region’s heritage.
Grown in rich loam soils layered over limestone and ironstone, the fruit from these ancient vines is intensely concentrated. The wine is matured for 24 months in French oak hogsheads and barriques (69% new oak), bringing structure, elegance, and depth.
Tasting notes Medium depth crimson with purple hues. A rich and intense aroma of ripe Satsuma plum, mocha and ANZAC cookies mingle with hints of cedar, violets and sweet spice. Sweet, juicy fruit is balanced wonderfully with briary and sweet spice and lovely, silky tannins. A medium bodied wine showing great complexity with savoury hints, cedar and biscuit, which, in combination flows through to the lengthy, fruitful and spicy finish.
