Château Haut Bailly is a well-known winery in the Bordeaux region of France, producing high-quality wines. In 2017, La Parde Haut Bailly celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. In 1967, it began with a plot of young vines (called La Parde) classified for the second wine and bottled under the name "Domaine de la Parde" by former Belgian owner Daniel Sanders.

Château Haut Bailly was one of the first châteaux to launch a second label to improve the quality of the first wine. Haut Bailly II is the second wine of this estate and is considered an excellent introduction to the wines of Château Haut Bailly. Starting from the 2018 vintage, this wine is called Haut Bailly II, referring to the second generation of the Wilmers family now at the helm, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Haut Bailly II is made from grapes sourced from younger vines and parcels not used for the production of the estate's first wine.

The grape varieties used for this wine are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.

Tasting notes
The wine has a deep red color and an aroma of red and black fruits, such as blackberries, blueberries, and cherries, combined with spicy and vanilla notes from the oak barrels in which the wine has aged. On the palate, Haut Bailly II has a full body with soft tannins and a long finish. Haut Bailly II is an excellent choice for Bordeaux wine enthusiasts looking for an affordable alternative to the first wines of Château Haut Bailly. It is a wine that can be enjoyed when young but can also be cellared to further mature and develop complexity.

Food pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb and mild cheeses.
